This deliverable introduces several usage scenarios of WSMX, described in different subdeliverables. The first deliverable, D13.6.1 [Haller, 2004] (originally D13.6) identified three WSMX use cases: a Business-to-Consumer (B2C), a Business-to-Business (B2B), and an Application-to-Application (A2A) scenario. The process steps within these scenarios were only presented at a conceptual level, with a more detailed description of implemented parts of the execution semantics of WSMX is given in [Oren, 2004].

The second deliverable, 13.6.2, WSMX X12 Use Case, will detail an expanded use case using WSMX to send and receive WSML encoded ANSI X12 EDI messages. The coverage of this use case is not yet decided. It might either revolve around the sending of purchase orders and purchase order acknowledgements or be based on patient record messages. The ontologies built for these use cases will be limited to a fraction of the tens of thousands of available concepts that X12 permits for these message types.
